Northern California Coast Trip - Day 5 (San Francisco)

We spent the day today in San Francisco.  What a fun city!  I have been here many times while growing up.  It was REALLY fun to share it with my kids!  We started the day at Golden Gate Park.  This is a HUGE park with so many things to do.  We headed to a big grassy area next to the playground to play some soccer and volleyball...

This is my kid's favorite part of the playground - a huge play structure built entirely of cables all woven together.  It goes up pretty high and is a lot of fun to climb!

From here we headed to famous Lombard Street, a.k.a. "the crookedest street in the world".  We opened the sunroof on our car and I stood in between the two front seats with my head popped out above the car so I could get some fun shots while we drove down...

Then we headed to Fisherman's Wharf for some lunch at one of our favorite places in San Francisco -  Boudin's Bakery!  They have the best seafood, and sourdough bread bowls with either clam chowder or tomato soup.  So yummy!!

Down the street from Fisherman's Wharf is Ghirardelli Square.  With our love of chocolate, this was NOT to be missed!

We stopped at the Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop for some ice cream sundaes.  One of the fun things about that shop is the opportunity to see the machines at work to churn out all that chocolate.  So cool!

From the time I was little and walking along the waterfront here, there has always been a guy, covering himself in branches, pretending to be a bush, who jumps out and scares unsuspecting passersby.  It is really fun to watch him "get" people...

From here we drove to the scenic Marin Headlands, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco.  This has the most beautiful views of the bridge, the ocean, and the city...

We drove back across Golden Gate Bridge and went to a really tall building with a great view of San Francisco as the sun was going down...

Then we walked to China Town to eat dinner at a restaurant recommended by Mark's sister and her husband - R and G Lounge.  It had really great chinese food.  We were told not to leave without ordering the Honey Walnut Shrimp and the R&G Beef.  We got them and were not disappointed.  So yummy!
