Spring Break this year we decided to spend a few days with our kids in Sedona. We've been there several times and always have such a blast! It is so beautiful there and there are so many fun hikes. This time we we went on a hike named West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon. It is an easy hike and is rated one of the best in the whole United States! So beautiful.
Here we are at the start of the hike.
On both sides of us were the tall, red rock walls rising up to the sky.
We came to the remains of an old hotel that once stood here. If you look close you can see Kyle peeking through the round window in the wall.
More remains from the hotel with Colton and Kyle and the walking sticks they found along the way...
The weather was so pleasant, but we found patches of snow in the shade of the mountain, where the sun doesn't get to much, and our kids had so much fun playing in it!
This entire hike is right next to Oak Creek the whole way. The trail crosses the creek every so often and you get to rock hop across, but the water isn't deep and it's so easy to do. It was the perfect hike for families - even with little ones along.
It looked like this on both sides of us the entire way...
We stopped at this spot for about 30 minutes. It was so nice we wanted to sit back and enjoy it for awhile. Colton fell in when Kyle grabbed him to keep himself from falling in. He was so mad. Everyone was laughing, mostly because he was so mad. Eventually he got over it. He was only wet up to his knees, and it was a nice, sunny day. Poor Colton.
The kids worked on building a dam for awhile. I remember having so much fun doing that in creeks when we went camping when I was growing up...
Mark carving his walking stick...
Mark grabbed the camera so I would be in some shots...
Playing chess and checkers at Tlaquepaque.
Morgan bought that animal/hood/scarf thing as a souvenir. She loved it!
Morgan took my picture...
and also had Kyle pose for her...
We had such a fun, relaxing trip. We always love visiting Sedona!

FOOTBALL!
Kyle has been begging from the time he was about 5 years old to play football. I always discouraged it because I always hear about how horribly hurt kids can get playing football. Yes, you can get hurt playing anything. Yes, you can get hurt walking down the street. But. They wouldn't wear all those pads for no reason. Their bodies get slammed. And I really didn't want any of my little boys getting slammed.
This year it turned out there was a team of boys from our ward who decided to form a team. We were also excited to have a coach from our ward coaching our boys who also coaches at the high school level. He is so good with those boys! I gave in to Kyle's football mania because #1 - it's FLAG football, and #2 - he's so darn good at it! He's a natural. He throws that ball straight and far with great accuracy. He also LOVES to run. When he turns on those jets there aren't many kids he can't catch. It is really fun to watch him play. All these boys are so darn cute. And SO serious when they're out there.

Amazing TP Job!
Our family was watching a movie together on a Saturday with our friends, Josh and Sarah. When we went to walk them out to their car around 11pm that night this is what we found in our yard...
We actually thought it was pretty cool! Whoever did it did an outstanding job! We left it until morning, and then my kids actually had a ton of fun cleaning it up. Really!

Colton's Talent Show
I was happily surprised when Colton told me he wanted to tryout for his school talent show with a piano piece he had been practicing. It's really hard to get up in front of your school, especially by yourself. He was excited! He tried out and made it! Over the next month he practiced his piece, "Flashdance...What A Feeling", over and over until it was perfect. I was so proud of him! Here he is at the talent show.

HOOP it UP!
I love the expressions of my children when they are playing basketball. They are so determined! They LOVE that game. Bryan took a break this season, so these pictures are of Colton, Kyle, then Morgan...
Morgan played a team with a couple of her friends on it. In this shot she is being guarded by her friend, Makayla.
In this one Morgan is guarding Makayla, and Morgan's friend, Bree is behind her (#20).

Valentine's Day Fun
As I've mentioned previously, Colton and Kyle are in "buddy classes" this year at school. All their parties are together where they are matched up with a buddy for the year. Here are some pictures with their buddies and some fun ones of them at their class Valentine's Party.

Bryan's hot pink cast
As a boy, you have to be pretty sure of yourself to ask for a hot pink cast.
Bryan broke his arm while trying to carry a volleyball while riding a bike to the park to meet some friends. Mistake number one. Mistake number two was not wearing a helmet. Thank goodness his arm caught his fall and not his head. Pretty sure he'll remember his helmet from now on.
When he went to get his cast he told them he wanted it to be bright pink. Some of his friends at school (of the female variety) dared him to do it. He thought that was great and had no issue with it. When we got home I was the first to take a Sharpie to it. I wrote "mom" with a nice heart next to it. When he showed up to a joint Young Men's/Young Women's activity at the church that night, he held up his arm and made some comment about making sure his mom wasn't the only signature on his cast. He also picked up a bunch at school the next day. He was pretty happy about that. Here it is 24 hours after getting it...
Wrapping it in bubble wrap for all his soccer games over the next month quickly got old, so he was very happy the day his cast was cut off. If your cast wasn't evidence enough Bryan, you can be assured, you are definitely loved!
