B-ry's 13TH BIRTHDAY

Our nickname for our dear Bryan is B-ry ("b" "ry").  I can't believe my oldest is 13 years old!  He passed me up (height-wise) like a rocket.  The kid has grown like 6 inches just this year.  One week we measured him and he was an inch shorter than me.  Two weeks later he was an inch taller.  I am really amazed at the person he is becoming.  I couldn't be more proud of him.  He works hard and loves to serve others.  He takes the fact that he holds the priesthood very seriously.  He does not want to disappoint his Heavenly Father.

He also has some amazing friends.  They are a great influence on him.  It was really fun seeing them hang out at his party.

My LOVE BUG Colton

I call Colton my love bug.  He is the lovingest kid!

He is so compassionate.  Other people being sad makes him sad.  He loves to do things to make other people happy.  He just has a heart of gold.

Just an illustration: When he knew Morgan's birthday was coming up, he spent $20 of his own money to buy her something he knew she had really been wanting.  It takes my kids a long time to earn that much money doing extra chores around the house.  He didn't think twice.  He used HIS OWN BIRTHDAY MONEY from his grandma ($10) to help purchase the gift for Morgan.

That's just the kid he is.  He loves to make people happy - especially those he loves.  We love you, Colton!

SPRING BREAK san diego 3RD DAY

On this day we had brunch at Point Loma Seafoods at the north end of the harbor.  Beautiful view, great food!  I would totally recommend it.  We spent most of this day on Coronado Island.  First we went to a fun park on the bay side of the island.  The kids had so much fun running around, watching the ships go by, and just enjoying the wonderful weather.

After playing at the playground we decided to go to the beach.  We parked by the beautiful Hotel del Coronado and walked down to the beach.  The kids had not brought swimsuits because it was March - we hadn't planned on going swimming.  Didn't matter - they were all wet within 10 minutes.  They had such a blast following the waves out, then running in as the waves chased them.  Of course there were several slips where they ended up wet from head to toe, but they loved every second.

Check out the surfer in the background on the left...so fun to watch!

After the beach we went to eat dinner at what was rated the Best Mexican Restaurant in San Diego.  It's called Old Town Mexican Cafe.  It totally lived up to it's reviews.  They also serve breakfast.  I would love to try that the next time we are in town.
The next morning, before driving back, we ate at the Big Kitchen Cafe.  It has a wonderful breakfast menu.  You can even peek in the kitchen to see where one star signed a wall because she used to work there alongside the boss.  The star's name - Whoopi Goldberg.

SPRING BREAK san diego 2ND DAY

Our second day in San Diego we went to Sea World.  The last time we went was when we were living in Texas and went to the Sea World in San Antonio.  At the time, only Bryan and Morgan were old enough to remember.  Colton was around a year old, and Kyle wasn't born yet.  We had such a great time!  Those kinds of places are more fun with kids.  Seeing it through their eyes is so special!

After Sea World we went to get a treat.  We went to MooTime Creamery, a place we will return to again and again.  Yummy ice cream treats - tons of yummy flavors.  Anyone who knows me knows that ice cream is my weakness.  They have a location on Orange Avenue (their main store) or inside the beautiful and historic Hotel del Coronado.

After ice cream we walked to the Hotel del Coronado which sits right on the beach looking out at the open ocean.  Beautiful!  The hotel itself is historic and has been kept up beautifully.  We walked through it, looking at all the memorabilia of different famous people who have stayed there.  After that we took a walk on the beach in the moonlight.  I love seeing the moonlight shining off of the waves with my shoes kicked off and the sand between my toes.

SPRING BREAK san diego 1ST DAY

For Spring Break March 2010 Mark and I decided to take the kids to San Diego.  We had so much fun.  We got to San Diego just at low tide, so we went to La Jolla, some of the prettiest beach in the world.  We had so much fun spotting sea lions, then going down to the tide pools where our kids could search for all kinds of miniature sea life.

searching the tide pools...

My kids loved finding hermit crabs, picking them up, then waiting for them to peek out of their shells - giggling as their tiny feet tickled their hands.

I love the beauty of the beach!  I could sit forever just watching the waves roll in - fall asleep to the sound of them crashing...
Sometimes I get to peek out from behind the camera - thanks Mark!  (I actually LOVE being behind my camera)

The boys loved crawling around on the cliffs on the beach.  Kyle needed a little help from Bryan at certain parts, but he did NOT want to be left behind.  Never tell him he's not old enough to do something - in his mind there is no such thing.

Love Kyle's dirty bum from sliding around up there!
 My boys - love them!
Darling Morgan.  Such a sweetie!

hard at work finding seashells...

After an afternoon on the beach we went to find our car - we had to walk a ways - and got some cute shots along the way.  Yes, my children are very patient with their picture-loving mother.

Then it was time for dinner.  We ate at a fabulous restaurant we will return to again and again - Georges At the Cove.  If you go there, make sure to get seating on The Terrace (the roof of the restaurant).  The view is amazing and the food is incredible.  It was rated one of the Best Restaurants In San Diego.  We ordered George's Famous Soup (which they served with copy of the recipe - the only one they give out), the Fish Tacos (so amazing!), burgers (for Bryan, who orders burgers no matter where we eat - even if it's a Mexican restaurant), spaghetti (for Kyle), and drumsticks.  Yummy!

After dinner we drove by the San Diego Temple - where Mark and I were married 15 years ago.  It is such a beautiful place, inside and out.  "I Love To See The Temple..."
What a fun and amazing day with my family!
